The University of the Fraser Valley is a higher-education institution situated on S’olh Temexw, the traditional lands of the Sto:lo. UFV enrolls approximately 15,000 students per year, with campuses in Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Mission, Hope and Chandigarh, India. Known formerly as the Fraser Valley College, the University gained degree-granting status in 1988 and rapidly evolved to become a large institution in British Columbia’s lower mainland.
Civil Space partnered with UFV’s provost within a broader two year consultation process led by a multi-disciplinary steering committee. The implications of COVID were a big obstacle for UFV when attempting to incorporate the perspectives of their community in their strategic planning. With so many groups to engage with, including students, staff, alumni and residents, there were many perspectives and opinions to gather. Our team felt well aligned with the values of UFV, which as an organization believes that “when everyone who is part of our community works together, we will be much more connected and successful.”
